http://oblivion-goes...k.de/community/

Because we aren't really good in French here are english and german verisons:

Region:
Border between the Normandie and the Bretagne.

Special Places:
The Mont Saint Michel (Saint Michaels Mount) which is heavily fortified.

Other Things:
There won't be magic spells.

Races:
There won't be real races. You can choose between English, Breton, French, Irish, German, Italian and Spanish Characters.

Sounds like a hard Task?:
Yes, but we heave allready a Team of 13 Developers and some of them are very skilled. We're mostly from germany (one is from swiss) and we thought that it would be a good idea to release it in other languages than german. So there will be a german, english and french version. I hope we will get some helpers from other countrys too smile.gif
Our Team was founded yesterday and the project was very succesfull on german websites. So why not release in many languages ?!

If anybody wants to join the team write it into the topic and/or give me your MSn/ICQ Number pls.

This is the german Version

Das Mittelalter wäre mal was neues.

Ich hab mir schonmal ein Konzept überlegt:

Schauplatz:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:France_cities.svg

Hello,

I don't have time to help you, but I think your mod is very interesting and I'll be happy to play it when it's done.

I know a book that could be usefull for you visual design :
"Le dernier chant des Malaterre", from François Bourgeon (ISBN : 978-2203388307 )

It's a comic book whose author is quite a fanatic about historical accuracy.
Its happens in France in 1350, and contains lots of images of medieval towns, castles, monastery, furnitures, clothings, armors, weapons, and more.

Good luck with your mod.

Bonjour,

It's translated in german : "Die Gefährten der Dämmerung, Bd.3, Das Fest der Narren (Gebundene Ausgabe) ", ISBN : 978-3551025364, available on amazon.de

If you can't write something in english, write it en francais. Je le comprendrai.  :angel2:

Then we have to translate it into normal french, because it's much easier to find translators^^

It can be a good idea to have some parts of the game in old french, but not all...
Two reasons:
- you will have problems to find people who speak old french and who can translate it
- french people won't understand the old french of the 14th century ! It's too different of the actual french...

But I'm interresting by the project. I don't know what I will do next summer, but if you need people who can help to translate in french, I can find time.

The main issue with old french is the voices - there's an old french "accent".

#12 eneru

eneru

Posté 09 mai 2007 - 18:14

The accent is not really a problem as they are not gonna use specific accent for each and every town and villages just because it was spoken like that centuries ago..
it is true it shouldn't be ALL in old french... but it should give the reader the impression it is, by using understandable yet old-fashioned words and expressions, and that's it :o

Hi,

it would be nice to have more historical advisors on board. Most informations about the time are in french. I started my first lessons of this language last week. But with [je m'appelle...] i can't win a flower pot in this forum and in the french literature :P .

We need detailed maps of the following cities (1300-1500):

Granville
Fougères
Dinan

(Schops, Craft, Buildings like church, etc.)

With this project we hope to wake up interest of the middle age with historic personalities (for ex.: Charles VII, Philippe le Bon, Jean d'arc [Jean de Metz] or Jean d'Orléans), the living, weapons, etc. And on the other hand we want write good and exciting stories to have fun with the game.

Not to forget that we show the Beauty of France (Fougères is a dream with old buildings and the city wall. And our main location Mont-Saint-Michel is very impressive).

Enough for now and enjoy Oblivion, what is a hell of game... :o

Hello,

It's just an idea, but it exists a possibility to find old maps of cities: the department of old files.
There is a specialized service in all the cities.
The disadvantage is that you might have to go to the cities to see the oldest maps.
But you can already contact them to ask if they hav maps, informations on the period you are looking for....

Some adresses of servicce of the files:
Fougères: mairie@fougeres.fr
Dinan:  r.vincent@dinan.fr

There is also the Breton departmental records in Rennes. They have files of all the Bretagne.
archives de Rennes

good luck !

-English (reverso):

Wahoo! ;) I applaud the project! No, openly bravo!

It is true that oblivion is the game(set, play) completed to make a simulator of medieval life, and it is very there a high quality of a TES. I had even thought of an adaptation of king arthur's myth (sprinkled with a good atmosphere " Celtic britannia ") in a mod (finally, it was more an idea than a real project).

For the old French problem, I opt rather for the solution of Eneru: a way of speaking which makes old, but remains understandable by a player (as in the film " the visitors "). I greet the idea to want to respect the reality in 100 %, but there will be always things which will escape you. I think that the language is only a detail and you risk to break yourselves the head for something that the players would not like.

Here are some information that I picked up fast made on google about Granville:
brief chronology - brief history - touristic information (PDF format)
To part: you plan to model the Mont-Saint-Michel?:):yahoo::)

All that you plan to make represents an immense job, and I think that you can count on the support of all the wiwilandaise community.:good:

PS: other idea: with ayléïdes ruins, we could also make a simulator of Greek antiquity(antique), no?

________________________________________________________________________________

-Français:

Wahoo!

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

:good:

For the cities of Rennes and Dinan, I think you can send them a request in english.
With their history, they have to work regularly with historian, and some of them are not french.
If you explain to them in details what you want, after a short introduction in french, I think they can indicate you where to search and help you to find what you are looking for.

But (I have research it a bit) for maps.... I did'nt find anything for the moment.

An other idea is the departments of history of the universities (like Rennes 2 or Paris IV Sorbonne).
By exemple, Paris IV has specialists in history of Middle Age.
